RAILWAY COOPERATION BETWEEN THE UK AND TURKEY INCREASING.

The Turkish Office of the Ministry of International Trade and the Midlands Region Industry and Technology Cluster organized a railway sector network event in Ankara. It is planned to increase the cooperation between the United Kingdom and Turkey in the railway sector with the bilateral meetings to be held within the scope of the event.

To increase the cooperation between the UK and Turkey in the railway sector, the Turkish Office of the Ministry of International Trade and the Midlands Region Industry and Technology Cluster (Midlands Engine) hosted the railway sector network event in Ankara.

Speaking at the event, British Consul General and Eastern Europe and Central Asia Trade Commissioner Kenan Poleo stated that it is essential to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries. Talking about Turkey's willingness to invest in the construction of electric high-speed train lines between Mersin-Gaziantep, Karaman-Mersin, and Kayseri-Ankara, Poleo said, "We are here to support you with the investment, services, and advanced manufacturing to be provided by the United Kingdom. We are ready. In this context, I am happy to announce a loan of 2.1 billion euros last week to finance the construction of more than five hundred kilometers of high-speed electrified lines between Izmir and Ankara.

Pointing out that the participation in the Ankara-İzmir High-Speed ​​​​Train Project is the most considerable non-defense agreement in the history of the United Kingdom Official Export Credit Agency (UKEF), Poleo said, "The UK's Exim Bank will finance  the constructions of this most extended high-speed train projects in Turkey. I hope we can provide a fruitful platform to contribute further to the cooperation.
