EMISSION PRINCIPLES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED IN AVIATION ACTIVITIES.

Date: 2022.03.25

EMISSION PRINCIPLES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED IN AVIATION ACTIVITIES.

The Regulation on the Monitoring of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Aviation Activities, prepared by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, has been published in the Official Gazette.

Accordingly, the aircraft operator will be obliged to prepare the emission monitoring plan within the framework of the procedures and principles determined in the Regulation's sub-regulations and monitor the greenhouse gas emissions following this plan. To correct  deficiencies of  unsuitable monitoring plans, a maximum of 30 days will be granted depending on the situation of the violation.
A new-to-market and operating aircraft operator will begin monitoring its emissions from the year after it exceeds at least one of the set CO2 emission thresholds. The airplane operator will prepare an emissions monitoring plan within three months from when at least one of the emission thresholds is exceeded. In case of detection of violations of the regulations during the inspections, the General Directorate will request the aircraft operator to rectify the illegal issues within 30 days.
