A FOOD LINE IS OPENED BETWEEN TURKEY AND RUSSIA.

With the initiative of Palmali and Spring Marine, a container line consisting of four ships will be commissioned by the end of April 2022 to serve between Russia and Turkey. First, it is planned to transport various foods, especially vegetable oils.

Speaking to Barış Sedef from Dünya Newspaper, Spring Marine General Manager Sabahattin Su announced that they plan to open the line until the end of April.

Su said, “We will have a container line project consisting of four ships between Russia and Turkey until the end of April 2022. The fact that many companies refrain from going to the region due to war and risks prompted us to make such an investment. We will complete one leg of this faltering construction and will transport food, especially sunflowers, between the two countries. The container business will be a new business for us, and we are building our staff in this direction. There is a lot of cargo from the ship right now. Many ship lines forbade their ships to go to Russia. The United States has also imposed sanctions on some lines going to that area.

Explaining that they have reactivated a significant part of the 15 ships that were idle, Su said, ''As Tanker, we will activate a total of 9 ships. General Polad Hashimov is a river ship that can sail on the seas. The most important feature is that it is equipped to carry vegetable oils. Recently, this ship's sister ship brought sunflower oil to our country," he said. Pointing out that the weekly insurance costs have increased due to the increase in the risks in war zones, Su said  “These companies receive insurance fee of 78,000  dollars from us weekly. Therefore, many ship owners do not go because of personnel and risks. We are safely transporting the cargoes in Turkey and the Mediterranean region," he said.

Palmali Holding took the decision to name all its ships after the martyrs. In this context, it launched a river type tanker ship with a length of 139.95 meters and a width of 16.6 meters. The 7,103 DWT river type tanker ship built in Turkey was launched at the General Polad Hashimov Dogruyol Shipyard. The ship, which will be evaluated within the body of Palmali Holding, was named after General Polad Hashimov, who was martyred in the 2nd Karabakh War. In addition, the company decided to name all its ships after the martyrs. Spirng Marine will operate the ship.
